Let him do it
(or the story of Patufet)

Description

This dramatized version of the story aims to insist on the true meaning of this tale so popular in Catalonia: Patufet, an incredibly tiny boy with a big barretina, despite the fears of an overprotective mother, leaves home alone for the first time, a known and safe environment (although not always), and faces, outside, some difficult situations that he successfully solves, which gives him security and helps him to grow and feel autonomous and independent. “Maria, our little Patufetito is already a little man!”: this statement, made by Patufet’s father at the end of this 40-minute show, summarizes the show’s storyline.

Technically, the staging of this version of En Patufet is very simple, with few elements, the basic ones involved in shadow theater. To begin with, a spotlight and an illuminated screen, framed by a small theater (built for the occasion and dressed with a handmade tapestry with scenographic intentions). On the other hand, the actors (two) and the objects (handmade), placed between the spotlight and the screen, interrupt the light and cast shadows on the fabric.
